Throughout their time as a MLS franchise, Dallas has been largely know for two things: Poor attendance and an unwillingness to really open their wallets. Sure, they briefly signed a Designated Player, but Denilson was only around for less than a complete season and was reportedly paid a prorated $870,000.
FC Dallas is coming off their first ever MLS Cup finals appearance and there’s some reason to believe fans may be primed to start paying attention. Nothing could halt that momentum faster than allowing their best player to leave without any significant compensation.
