The Short Fuse: Arsenal Vs. Chelsea, Match Preview

As was the case with our Chelsea community blog, Ted Harwood at The Short Fuse, SB Nation's Arsenal headquarters, is looking at the midfield; specifically, how Arsenal's trio is deployed. Does Arsenal need two deep in midfield? It doesn't seem like a bad idea against an attack as powerful as Chelsea's, but given how Alexander Song and Jack Wilshire play, perhaps other options should be considered:

Arsenal played well in October, but Chelsea finished their chances, and the Gunners did not. There was also concern after the match about the deployment of two holding midfielders for Arsenal against one for Chelsea. It will be interesting to see whether Arsène Wenger uses his favorite pair from this season, Alex Song and Jack Wilshere, or whether he opts to set out recent returnee Abou Diaby next to Song, or a more steady passer, Denilson.

Lineups have just been announced, so we’ll have to see if any of Ted’s speculation holds. If you want more on the Arsenal point of view, you can visit SB Nation’s Arsenal community blog, The Short Fuse.
