West Brom Vs. Blackburn: Where There’s A Dead Ball, There’s A Chance, As Nikola Kalinic Gives Rovers The Lead

We speculated at halftime that, although West Bromwich Albion was looking the better team, Blackburn is always one set piece away from asserting control. Nine minutes into the second half at the Hawthorns, Rovers affirmed their set piece prowess, converting on a corner kick to take a 2-1 lead.

The goal came after a kick from the left went deep far post, headed back toward the middle by Ryan Nelson. There, Nikola Kalinic completed his brace, heading home from five yards out to give Blackburn their second lead of the match.

For the Baggies, there has always been this danger of playing to Blackburn's strengths. Though West Brom has dominated play, Blackburn has still been able to occasionally break out, with Mame Biram Diouf down the right, Kalinic on the left. That's led to dead ball chances and corner kicks as well as Blackburn's second goal.
