Maybe we'll find out it was just unfortunate timing, but right now there's really no reason to believe Herculez Gomez's tweet about coming to MLS was anything more than a joke. This was his Twitter message:
It’s A Joke, Really: Herculez Gomez Not Coming To MLS

Firme con la MLS! Adios Mexico! Gracias por todo, era de lo mejores de tiempos!! Ciao

↵Let’s look at the evidence:
- ↵↵Today is “Dia De Los Santos Inocentes” in the Spanish-speaking world
- ↵Gomez’s tweet was only in Spanish
- ↵Gomez has previously stated that he is not coming to MLS this season
- ↵Despite many people putting two and two together, Gomez has not clarified himself
↵↵I’d love to see Gomez get another shot in MLS. He’s won a Golden Boot in the Mexican Primera and made his World Cup debut since washing out with Kansas City during the 2009 MLS season. It would be a shame for that to be the last time he played in his home country’s league.
↵But this doesn’t seem to be the way it’s going to happen. If he returns to MLS, I’m sure it will be with a clear destination in mind. A player of his caliber
