Anfield Asylum: Gerard Houllier Should Expect A Warm Reception
We tried to summarize what Gèrard Houllier’s return to Anfield will mean to Liverpool supporters, but we aren’t Liverpool supporters. At least, not officially. We live in a world where every club is the same save these strange arrays Roman characters we’re told to associate with things. Here at SB Nation Soccer, we don’t take sides. Please believe us.
That’s what our community blogs are for, and in this instance, the Anfield Asylum perspective of Sam Fels helps round-out the story on Houllier’s return to Merseyside:
This will also mark Gerard Houllier's return to Anfield since being dismissed before the Benitez Era. I'm sure he'll get a warm reception from the Kop, and though I had mixed feelings on his reign, he did provide the plastic treble of 2001, the first time Liverpool had won anything since I started supporting them, and for that I'm forever grateful.
While grateful, Fels goes on to say that Houllier was responsible for taking years off his life, mid-day alcoholism, and some spurious decision making that cost the team a cup final. But that’s why you should read Sam’s preview of today’s match at Anfield Asylum, SB Nation’s Liverpool FC community blog.
