With the England international left back struggling to find playing time behind Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksandar Kolarov, Wayne Bridge has moved on loan to relegation battlers West Ham United. The Hammers are in a bit of a financial pitch and probably don’t have the money to purchase a left back of Bridge’s quality, so he will be a welcome addition to Avram Grant’s side, even if it’s just on a temporary basis. Bridge has made just three league appearances for Manchester City this season.
Wayne Bridge Joins West Ham From Manchester City On Loan Until End Of Season
West Ham have allowed 38 goals so far this year, good for a tie for second worst in the English Premier League. Players like United States international Jonathan Spector and Daniel Gabbidon have played in the left back position for West Ham this year, usually to little success and critical acclaim. One of the Hammers’ worst performances of this season was a recent game against Newcastle United, where they lost 5-0 and were torn apart by the rarely seen Leon Best. It’s fair to say that the Hammers can find a place for Bridge in their team, even if his best days are possibly behind him.
