Liverpool FC’s Latest Transfer Bid For Blackpool FC’s Charlie Adam Rejected

Word from north east England gives us an update the most fascinating transfer saga of the January window. Emboldened by Charlie Adam's transfer request at Bloomfield Road, Liverpool FC has made another run at the Scottish midfielder, looking to improve on the £4 million bid made last week. Blackpool FC, however, has rejected the Reds' latest proposal, according to the Liverpool Echo, who report that although the latest offer improves on the £4 million figure, it falls short of Blackpool's asking price.

That asking price, once thought to be £8 million, is quoted as in excessive of £10 million, according to the echo. While Adam is out of contract at the end of the year, he is also seen as vital to Blackpool’s survival chances in the English Premier League. With the Tangerines having capitulated on Tuesday (coughing up a 2-0 lead to Manchester United in a 3-2, home loss), Ian Holloway’s men six of their last seven matches.

Perhaps, with that in mind, Blackpool would be wise to sell, recoup, and regroup, but that’s not Ian Holloway’s style. Holloway, who is said to have a stake in the sale of Adam, will want to either keep his captain and best player or be forced into a decision by an offer he can’t refuse. While Liverpool is unlikely to play Vito Corleone in this negotiation, the money they can offer Blackpool could make a sale irresistible.
