At this point, Lionel Messi turned on the style and added a brace, taking the scoreline to 3-0, a flattering result for Barcelona. His first goal was a brilliant strike, but his second was a mere tap-in. Once reduced to ten men, a tired Hercules side had no answer for their opponents.
The win was Barcelona’s 15th consecutive victory in La Liga, which is an all-time record. The pressure remains on Real Madrid, who must win tomorrow to avoid dropping off the pace almost entirely.
