Newcastle Vs. West Ham: Leon Best Adds Second, Puts Magpies Up 2-0
Best's shot came after a failed clearance from Danny Gabbidon, the Hammers defender failing to deal with Peter Lovenkrands' cross. The ball went to Best who, giving the Toon a reward from a dominant half. With his second league goal in 18 minutes, Best has Newcastle up 2-0.
The poor performance from West Ham has been surprising in light of the four match unbeaten streak the Hammers carried into today’s match. Though they slid into 18th place as a result of yesterday’s results, Avram Grant seemed to have saved his job with this team’s recent run of form.
But today, that form has eluded the Hammers, giving up two goals to Alan Pardew’s surprise starter. Approaching half time at St. James’ Park, Newcastle has a two goal lead.
