MLS Mock Draft: Vancouver Whitecaps Select Darlington Nagbe With First Pick

Benjamin Massey (Eighty Six Forever): Though a trifle undersized, Darlington Nagbe is clearly the most talented player available in this MLS draft. A highly skilled, ferociously-scoring forward, Nagbe is a talented player on the ball who cultivated a reputation at the University of Akron as not only a good scorer, but an absolutely first-class playmaker who can adjust to any system and makes his teammates better. He will not be a 15-goal scorer, but he will be a strong, reliable forward that is more likely to improve the Whitecaps immediately than any of his contemporaries. Nagbe is, bluntly, the best player available.

Drew Epperley (WV Hooligan): Nagbe was easily the best option available for Vancouver who need offense if you look at their current roster. He may not start right away for them this season but don't be shocked if he's a starter before the beginning of summer. Getting the top player in the draft is what you need to do with the top pick and the Whitecaps certainly did that with this pick.
