MLS Mock Draft: Los Angeles Galaxy Select CJ Sapong With 34th Overall Pick
Ryan Rosenblatt (SB Nation): You don't hear a ton about players coming from James Madison, but CJ Sapong will hop across the country to join a Galaxy team that really needs help up top. Last season, Edson Buddle took a pounding all season and began to wear down as the season went on because he just didn't have any help. Bryan Jordan and Landon Donovan, both of whom also play in the midfield, are the team's only two other forwards and it is unclear whether LA will be able to sign Juan Pablo Angel. At 6'1'', Sapong is a big kid who can take some pounding and he blends that with good speed as well. With 12 goals and nine assists as a senior at James Madison, Sapong showed he can be a real threat in the attacking third and LA would love to have that...or even just another guy to throw up top.
Drew Epperley (WV Hooligan): Another big target on set pieces for Bruce Arena's bunch. Sapong has good size and good speed. He'll need to develop his ball skills a bit but sitting behind guys like Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle should help him out.
