Is it possible that AC Milan are only in front in the Serie A title race because no other Italian clubs have been more convincing? The visitors are putting up a poor showing at Cagliari, with Alexandre Pato the only player appearing to want to make an impact on the match. The young Brazilian had a great shot in the 50th minute, but goalkeeper Michael Agazzi managed to just nudge the ball out of the way.
Cagliari Vs. AC Milan: Visitors Still Failing To Make An Impact
Yet Cagliari have done little to take advantage of AC Milan’s sloppy play. Minutes after Pato’s close call, Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati gifted a pass straight to Cagliari striker Nenê, who was just outside the area. Yet Nenê could only fire off a weak shot that rolled on just outside the near post--a shot Nenê neglected to even chase after. Moments such as these make one wonder if Milan lead the race for the scudetto simply because other teams are even weaker, not because the Rossoneri are truly that strong.
