Black And Red United: DC May Be Angling For First Pick In MLS Draft
When it comes to reading tea leaves, nothing is ever clear. But that has never stopped anyone from trying, which is exactly what Black And Red United's ChestRockwell does while envisioning a series of events that seems to point toward DC United making a move for the top pick in the MLS Draft. To do that, of course, would require DC United working out a trade with the Vancouver Whitecaps, likely involving one of these scenarios:
1. Clyde Simms and our #3 pick (Vancouver would likely have to sweeten the deal with another draft pick or some cash here; otherwise, it could be a straight up Simms-for-#1 pick deal, giving us two of the first three picks in the draft).
2. Our #3 pick and either allocation money or some combination of our other, later picks
3. Chris Pontius (here again, we might see the our first rounder and something else from Vancouver involved).
ChestRockwell foresees Perry Kitchen being the target in the first scenario, but Darlington Nagbe being targeted in the other two situations and the second scenario being the most likely of the three.
