Rich Peverley has gotten off to a strong start in the 2011-12 NHL season for the Boston Bruins, scoring two goals in the team's first three games. Apparently, between that hot start and his 18 goals last season, combined between his time with both Boston and the Atlanta Thrashers, Peverley did enough to convince the team he was worthy of a contract extension. The team announced on Tuesday that he's signed a three-year contract extension that will lock him up through the 2014-15 season.
Rich Peverley Signs Three-Year Contract Extension With Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins have announced that they have locked up forward Rich Peverley with a three-year extension, signing him through the 2014-15 season.
Peverley was acquired last winter, along with Boris Valabik, in a trade for Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart. He was a bit part player during his time with the team last season, but the offseason departures of Mark Recchi, Marc Savard and Michael Ryder allowed for Peverley to take over a more important role in the team. He'll be competing with talented youngster Tyler Seguin for time on the second line all season, but whether or not he keeps that place, he'll still be a regular fixture in the Bruins' team.
