Frank Arnesen and Hamburg have found a new manager, with Thorsten Fink replacing Michael Oenning.
Thorsten Fink Named New Hamburg Manager

Getty ImagesHamburg have announced that they have reached an agreement with Thorsten Fink to be the club’s new manager. He will be presented to the media at the beginning of next week. Fink has signed a contract with Hamburg until June 30, 2014.
The above statement from Frank Arnesen appeared on the Hamburg website today. Arnesen will be on the bench this weekend as manager, but former caretaker manager Rodolfo Cardoso will likely continue to run the team as the assistant. Arnesen was forced to step onto the sideline for this weekend match due to the DFL rule that only allows a team 15 days without a properly licensed manager in the dugout.

(Photo by Joern Pollex/Bongarts/Getty Images) Bongarts/Getty ImagesHamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has announced that he will take over as the club’s manager effective immediately. The appointment is only temporary however until the club is able to find a permanent replacement for Michael Oenning during the international break.
Oenning was fired on September 19, and assistant Rodolfo Cardoso was named as the caretaker manager. He was in charge for two matches, including a 2-1 victory away to Stuttgart. Cardoso does not have a coaching license, and the German Football Association (DFB) only allows a 15 day grace period in these situations. Arnesen received his coaching license in 2002 while he was the sporting director at PSV. Cardoso will remain as an assistant under Arnesen, and it is expected that he will have a direct say in the way the team is run until the new manager is appointed.
