Dorge Kouemaha headed in a cross from Pierre de Wit in the 72nd minute to give 10-man Kaiserslautern a 2-1 upset in Gelsenkirchen against 10-man Schalke.

Schalke were put against it early when goalkeeper Ralf Fährman was shown a red card for a foul in the penalty area on Kouemaha just 28 minutes into the match. His backup Lars Unnerstall came on for Julian Draxler. His first responsibility was pulling the ball out of the back of net when Christian Tiffert converted the penalty to give his side the 1-0 lead after only half an hour.
Schalke continued to attack and even looked better at times while down a man. They were rewarded at the hour mark when Kaiserslautern defender Rodnei was shown a red card for a foul on Jose Manuel Jurado. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar stepped up and scored the penalty for his 8th goal of the season to level the match at 1.
With just 20 minutes left, Pierre de Wit drew two defenders before feeding a perfect cross to Kouemaha who headed the visits to their first road victory of the season. The three points pull Kaiserslautern out of the relegation zone.
For Schalke, the loss will come as a crushing blow when the opportunity was there to leap Werder Bremen, Stuttgart, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Borussia Dortmund into second place.
