Paris Saint-Germain Vs. Lyon, 2011 Ligue 1: Scoreless At Halftime

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Lyon was either going to be one of two things - a thrill-a-minute high scoring goalfest or a disappointing 0-0 affair. We’re through a half at the Parc des Princes, and right now it’s option two. Both sides are getting bogged down in midfield, with the defences crowding the forwards out whenever anyone tries to press home an attack.

Lyon have had more control, but PSG have created better chances, having hit the post through Javier Pastore and then being denied a penalty later for no apparent reason after Jimmy Briand felled Pastore in the area. Hogo Lloris has been kept busy, mostly in smothering through passes meant for Kevin Gameiro, but he's also had to stay alert to tip over a 40-yard piledriver from centre back Diego Lugano. Just why he thought he'd score from there is anyone's guess, but the result was pretty neat, so hey.

At the other end of the pitch, Bafetimbi Gomis has been having a pretty good go of things, certainly giving Salvatore Sirigu and the Lugano/Zoumana Camara partnership a few scares. However, Lyon have managed just one shot on target - they're going to have to start giving Sirigu some proper tests if they want to come out of here with a win. Of course, they might not. A draw at PSG is hardly the worst result in the world for the visitors.
