Paris Saint-Germain Vs. Lyon, 2011 Ligue 1: Javier Pastore Gives PSG Lead

So much for 0-0 at the Parc des Princes. Paris Saint-Germain have taken a lead that we'll call deserved thanks to the botched penalty call in the first half, and now Lyon only have 25 minutes to reply lest they slump to a rough loss. The man who scored, of course, is Javier Pastore. Despite not having had quite the influence PSG might have hoped for in the centre of the pitch today, Pastore is still capable of moments of magic, and he's certainly produced here.

Leaving Bakary Kone for dead on the left flank, Pastore blew into the penalty area, cut inside to menace Hugo Lloris' goal. Everyone, including Lloris, was expecting the midfielder to cross. Instead, Pastore looked up, saw a gap between Lloris and his near post, and slipped in a precise shot to make it 1-0.

Lyon's reply was swift and dangerous, with Jimmy Briand nearly scoring a thunderous effort from range. It's not entirely clear how Salvatore Sirigu kept that out, but I'm assuming it gave him at least three broken bones in his right hand. A few seconds later, Bafetimi Gomis missed with a free header from six yards somehow. In between, Kevin Gameiro had a one-on-one with Lloris (after being fed by Pastore, of course) denied by the big goalkeeper - things are getting really exciting now.
