Tottenham Hotspur Vs. Queens Park Rangers, 2011 Premier League: Spurs Cruise To 3-1 Win

Tottenham Hotspur put in an inspired display to brush aside Queens Park Rangers at White Hart Lane, coming away with a 3-1 victory that despite an attempted fightback by the visitors in the second half was never really in doubt. In truth, the scoreline could have been far higher if not for the heroics of Paddy Kenny in the QPR net - by the time Gareth Bale found the net for the opening goal (a neat finish after being played through on the left by Aaron Lennon) the hosts should probably have already been at least a goal to the good, and he was absolutely brilliant in the second half.

By the time the second half had rolled around, however, Tottenham were up 2-0, with Rafael van der Vaart in good position to retrieve Ledley King's deflected shot and steer an effort past the wrong-footed Kenny. QPR were a changed team in the second half, with Neil Warnock using his remaining two substitutes - Fitz Hall had to be withdrawn early due to injury - at the break, removing Adel Taarabt and Shaun Derry for Jay Boothroyd and Jamie Mackie.

The changes made a bit of a difference, and Boothroyd pulled a goal back following a corner kick, but that only seemed to galvanise Spurs and they went on the attack again, drawing a series of fine saves from Kenny before Bale put the game away after a lovely passing exchange with Lennon on the edge of the box. All that was left to do was to see it out, and they did, moving into fifth place with an emphatic display.
