FC Augsburg announced today that left back Marcel De Jong will be out of action for the next eight weeks after tearing the medial collateral ligament in his left knee against Borussia Dortmund on the weekend. De Jong came off after just 23 minutes in the match.
FC Augsburg’s Marcel De Jong Out Two Months With Knee Injury
Marcel De Jong will be out of action for a while after suffering a knee injury.

The Canadian international, 24, has featured in six of Augsburg’s eight matches this season. He was a regular last season when the club earned automatic promotion from the 2.Bundesliga to the top flight for the first time in history. He joined Augsburg in the summer of 2010 from Roda JC.
While De Jong is out of action, Augsburg will likely turn to Lorenzo Davids. Davids joined this summer from Dutch club N.E.C. where he appeared in over 125 matches over a 4 year period. While naturally a midfielder, Davids filled in at left back earlier this season for two matches that De Jong missed due to a minor knee injury.
