Ecuador Vs. Peru, CONMEBOL World Cup 2014 Qualifying: Halftime, A Tight 0-0 Draw Thus Far

So far, we’ve seen lots of fouling, lots of counter-attacking down the wings, and not a lot of shots on target. The CONMEBOL World Cup 2014 qualifying match between Ecuador and Peru is going more or less as expected, with both teams afraid to expose their average defenses to the other side’s great attacking players. Both teams have done plenty of playing quickly down the flanks, keeping the game from being boring, but there haven’t been many scoring chances. At halftime, the score is locked up at 0-0.

For most of the first half, Ecuador were the better side, creating five shots to Peru’s two for the entirety of the period. However, Ecuador defender Fricson Erazo had to come out due to an injury in the 37 minute, and was replaced by Javier Morante. From that point until the end of the half, Peru were the better side and it will be interesting to see if that momentum carries over into the second half.

We’ll have live coverage of this and every match in our CONMEBOL World Cup 2014 Qualifying, Matchday 4 StoryStream. For more on the entire world of football, check out SB Nation Soccer.
