UEFA Champions League 2011, Lyon Vs. Ajax Amsterdam: Preview, Time And TV Schedule

Lyon are trying to hold on to their hopes of making the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League as they host Ajax Amsterdam at the Stade de Gerland.

Lyon face the prospect of not advancing to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2002-03 season as they host Ajax Amsterdam at the Stade de Gerland tomorrow. Only a victory for Les Gones will keep them in the hunt to advance.

Lyon manager Remi Garde will receive a boost with the return of Dejan Lovren from a thigh injury. Additionally, Lisandro Lopez, Michel Bastos, and Clement Grenier all returned to action in last Friday’s Ligue 1 action and should be set to feature in this match.

Ajax, meanwhile, sit second in the group, three points clear of Lyon, but five points off of Real Madrid. Ajax will without striker Dmitry Bulykin who sustained a knee injury in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with NAC Breda. With Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Siem de Jong already out and winger Derk Boerrigter staying at home with back problems, manager Frank de Boer might have to adjust his tactical plans.

With the weakened attacking strength of Ajax and Lyon’s need for three points, don’t be surprised if Lyon are able to end their winless streak against Ajax.
