NFL Odds And Lines Week 12: Vikings Vs. Falcons

The Falcons are big favorites to beat the short-handed Vikings at home.

Playing a 2-8 team at home is usually a recipe for a pretty big spread, so we probably shouldn't be all that surprised that the Atlanta Falcons (6-4) are anywhere from a 9.5- to 11-point favorite at home against the Minnesota Vikings. Going with the favorite might not be such a hot idea, though.

Neither of these teams have been particularly good against the spread (both are 4-5-1), with the Vikings going 2-3-1 on the road ATS and the Falcons going 2-2 at home ATS. It’s not much better when looking at the over/under which is right around 44.5 right now. Neither team has predictably hit the over with both doing it about half the time.

This is all just a long way of saying you might want to stay away from this game if you are planning on putting real money on it. Assuming you read this space just for fun, though, we may as well give you some advice.

With Christian Ponder at quarterback and Adrian Peterson out, it's hard to see how the Vikings can really be competitive in this game. The Falcons might not be world-beaters, but if I have to live and die with one of these teams I'd be hard-pressed not to go with them.
