Sporting Kansas City Vs. Houston Dynamo Live, MLS Cup Playoffs 2011: Mark Geiger Refereeing Scared

Nobody wants the referee to decide a game, but a referee cannot ref a match scared of deciding a game and that's how Mark Geiger has refereed this match. He's been petrified of making a decision that will alter this match and it's a shame. Two players should have been sent off for clear second yellow card tackles and Geiger wouldn't do it. Sporting Kansas City should have had one, if not two penalties and once again, Geiger wouldn't do it. He's refereeing scared.

First, Calen Carr should have been sent off for a clear yellow card tackle in which he came in very late. It would have been Carr's second yellow card, but Geiger just talked to Carr. Julio Cesar did the same with a studs up challenge for what should have been his second yellow, but again, Geiger just talked to the player. Aurielien Collin was mauled in the box on a free kick, but Geiger was scared to whistle for a penalty. Brian Ching took down Davy Arnaud right on the edge of the box for what would have been a dangerous free kick or penalty, but Geiger didn't want to make that call either. A scared ref is not a good ref.
