Brad Davis Injury Update: Dynamo MF Will Miss MLS Cup After Tearing Quad

The Houston Dynamo may have qualified for their third MLS Cup final, but they will apparently have to play it without MVP candidate Brad Davis. Following Sunday's victory over Sporting Kansas City in the Eastern Conference final, Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear sounded as if he was resigned to Davis being out.

“It’s a huge blow, he’s a big part of what we do on set pieces and in the run of play he’s an excellent player,” Kinnear said.

Davis didn’t sound much more optimistic. The midfielder told the Sporting News that he tore his right quadriceps and that he will be unable to play on Nov. 20. If it is a complete tear, the injury could take as long as four months to heal, which could impact his availability for the start of next season.

Davis suffered the injury on a bit of a freak play, taking only minimal contact from KC midfielder Graham Zusi. Jermaine Taylor entered for Davis and played reasonably well. The Dynamo did manage to score both of their goals without Davis on the field.
