Walter Mazzarri, despite being adamant about having a system and sticking with it, has decided to change up his lineup for Napoli’s match against Novara. Sure, the formation remains the same as ever, a 3-4-2-1, but Mazzarri has decided to pull Marek Hamsik back to central midfield, starting Goran Pandev up top with Ezequiel Lavezzi, behind Edinson Cavani. Considering Walter Gargano and Gokhan Inler have both been nursing injuries, we have to think this is a move to baby the midfield, rather than a reflection of Mazzarri’s deep-seated love for Pandy.
