Bayern Munich Vs. Werder Bremen, Bundesliga Week 15: Full Time, Bavarians Cruise As Werder Loses The Plot

After a fantastic first 45 minutes for Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen were able to find an equalizer in the second half to put the game in doubt and possibly cause Bayern to drop more points in Bastian Schweinsteiger's absence. Instead, Bayern were able to find a second before their opponents lost the plot entirely, as the Bavarians poured it on late in a 4-1 win.

Franck Ribery scored the first half's only goal, a brilliant strike from just outside the penalty area after he split the Werder defense. Bayern looked the better side to begin the second half, but were ripped apart in the 52nd minute by a fantastic run and finish by Markus Rosenberg. Schweinsteiger's absence was felt as the midfield completely disappeared, allowing Rosenberg to make a 40-yard run before he slotted a finish past Manuel Neuer.

Werder looked capable of hanging on for a while, until Andreas Wolf took down Thomas Müller in the box in the 67th minute. From there, things went seriously downhill for the visitors. Arjen Robben converted the penalty, the first of many unfortunate events for Werder. Mario Gomez would have a seemingly good goal disallowed in the 75th minute, but assisted a Ribery goal in the 77th. In the 81st minute, Aaron Hunt was sent off for a shocking two-footed tackle on Toni Kroos before Werder gave away another penalty in the 82nd minute.

For 60-plus minutes, Werder looked like they had a chance to nick a draw, but at the end of the match, they completely lost their composure and the score reflects that.
