When Antoine Kombouare was fired as Paris Saint-Germain manager at the start of Ligue 1’s winter break, it seemed all but inevitable that a huge name was about to arrive at the Parc des Princes. That huge name has now arrived, as Carlo Ancelotti has been named the new PSG manager, as expected. Ancelotti was introduced at a press conference, where he appeared alongside Sporting Director Leonardo.
Carlo Ancelotti Hired As Paris Saint-Germain Manager, Replacing Antoine Kombouare
Paris Saint-Germain have been undergoing the process of becoming a big-spending football giant, much like Chelsea and Manchester City, after being purchased by the Qatar Investment Authority. The addition of Javier Pastore and other big names was only the beginning, and most expect Ancelotti and Leonardo to be extremely active in the January transfer window. They are currently being linked to the likes of David Beckham, Alexandre Pato and Florent Malouda. Without a doubt, other transfer targets will emerge shortly.
Ancelotti was most recently the manager at Chelsea FC, where he won an FA Cup and a Premier League title. He was a two-time winner of the UEFA Champions League as the manager of AC Milan.
