Jaguares De Chiapas Vs. Monterrey: 1-4 Full Time, Humberto Suazo Seals Win With Hat Trick
Jaguares de Chiapas fought hard all match and probably feel like they were treated unfairly by the officials, but their fight wasn’t nearly enough as Monterrey pulled away late to make the scoreboard portray a more lopsided match than what actually occurred. Humberto Suazo netted a hat trick in the match, the first goal of which was a fantastic chip over the keeper to open the scoring, while Aldo de Nigris added the fourth goal after a great team move.
The match changed irreversibly late in the first half, as Jaguares were seriously crippled with two massive events in just a couple of minutes of open play. Oscar Razo was harshly sent off in the 27th minute and the Rayados were awarded a penalty kick in an entirely separate incident just two minutes later. Jaguares recovered with a 36th minute goal by Christian Valdez, but that would be their only score of the match.

Humberto Suazo hasn’t been quite as dominant as he normally is to start this season, but he’s changed that tonight. Chupete has netted a hat trick for Monterrey, the last goal of which put Monterrey ahead 3-1 late in the second half of their match against Jaguares De Chiapas. The hosts have done well to stay in the match and fight for a point since Oscar Razo was sent off in the first half, but it appears that Suazo has effectively ended it with his 78th minute strike.
The assist was provided by Abraham Carreño less than a minute after he was substituted on, replacing Neri Cardozo. From a wide position, Carreño centered the ball and made it easy for Suazo to pounce. Jaguares were stretched due to their lack of bodies and Chupete just had to tap the ball into the back of the net.

Club Necaxa might be headed for relegation down to the Liga de Ascenco, but they certainly haven’t quit fighting. They look set to play the role of spoiler in Group 2, as they have taken a 1-0 lead at home against Club America, who have won their previous three matches in a row after a bad start. Both teams have had plenty of chances and failed to capitalize, until Sergio Blanco’s 35th minute goal.
Blanco’s goal was a good one, and it was pretty bizarre as well. Sitting at the top of the penalty area, in the middle, Blanco had the ball played into his feet. His first touch popped the ball up into the air and his second touch, an attempted shot, deflected off of a defender and then even higher into the air. America’s defenders looked confused and didn’t come anywhere close to clearing the ball, while Blanco remained focused the entire time the ball was bouncing around. He found himself clear through on goal with no one to block his shot with his third touch, and he calmly slotted the ball past Armando Navarrete and into the back of the net.
