With new manager Roy Hodgson in attendance, West Brom is looking like the team that creates a buzz at the start of the season. Goals by Graham Dorrans (his first in the Premier League) and Jerome Thomas have West Brom up two after eight minutes, with West Ham fortunate not to have fallen down by three.

The first goal came in the third minute. West Brom had started with more energy but, in that moment, was having trouble getting the ball into the final third. Finally, Peter Odemwingie sent a ball toward Dorrans no the left. The midfidler cut in and, on his right foot, blasted the opener high and to the left of Robert Green.
Moments later, Odenwingie nearly doubled West Brom’s lead, a rebound of a shot from the left being put out to the middle of the area. The Nigerian attacker struck for the right post only to see his shot blocked by an unwitting Marc Antoine Fortuné.
But then, in the seventh minute, West Brom found their doubling goal. A ball played back from deep in West Ham’s third saw Thomas run onto it with the defense collapsed too deep to obstruct. With the inside of his right foot, Thomas scored from 16 yards out, making it 2-0, Brom.
