Well you can't say that that wasn't coming. Wigan find themselves level after Liverpool's defence only partially clear a free kick, allowing Charles N'Zogbia to swing in a tempting cross right back into Pepe Reina's box. The ball was flicked on to the far post, where Steve Gohouri was lurking - and surely offside - to stab home past the stranded goalkeeper. With 25 minutes left, the match is level at one apiece, and Jamie Carragher, to add insult to injury, picked up a booking for the foul that led to the initial free kick. Roberto Martinez has reacted to his stroke of good fortune by hauling off Victor Moses and replacing him with Manchester United loanee Tom Cleverly.
Liverpool FC Vs. Wigan Athletic: Steve Gohouri Levels Matters
There’s plenty of time for Liverpool to get the winner in the match, though (Maxi Rodriguez tried to reply with a curly free kick that missed by some margin), despite being pegged back by their less than illustrious opponents. Both teams will be going for it for the rest of the match, I suspect - one point does neither of them much good.
