Daniel Sturridge had been a non-factor before the 67th minute at the Reebok. Then, the Chelsea loanee found himself alone with the ball to the right of Tim Howard's goal. A left-shooted shot from nine yards beat the Everton `keeper far post, giving Bolton a 2-0 lead.
Bolton Vs. Everton FC: Daniel Sturridge’s Third Trotters Goal Gives Bolton 2-0 Lead
The play started with a long ball played into the box by David Wheater. Gary Cahil looked to have won the ball, but an Everton challenge sent the ball into the air, dropping just outside the box for Lee Chung-Yong. The South Korean headed the ball backward and into the box for an unmarked Sturridge.
The goal gave Sturridge three goals in three for Bolton, the club he joined on a six-month loan at the end of the January window. To that point, Sturridge’s match had been highlighted by miscommunication between himself and his partners in attack, but as is like as a strike in the Premier League, one moment of glory can forgive a multitude of sins. That moment has given Bolton a 2-0 lead, now in the final 20 minutes.
