AC Milan captain Gennaro Gattuso has earned himself a bit of a reputation for being a very, very angry man. Quite possibly the platonic angry man, Gattuso has been shouting and screaming and pushing and shoving his way through life for 33 years, and has never shown any sign of slowing down. He took his belligerence to astonishing new heights today in Milan's stunning home loss to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, however. Throwing a fit on the field? Shoving Peter Crouch? Several malicious tackles of the bookable variety? All par for the course for the Italian midfielder, who Serie A fans are by now used to after more than 400 appearances with Milan.
VIDEO: AC Milan’s Gennaro Gattuso Headbutts Tottenham Coach Joe Jordan
No, what was unusual about Gattuso’s conduct was his bizarre assault on a 59 year-old man. Spurs coach and ex-Scotland international Joe Jordan was the victim. First, Gattuso grabbed Jordan by the throat in the middle of the match:
That wasn’t enough for ol’ ‘Rino’, however. After the match had finished, the midfielder went back over to Jordan, who had played over 50 games with the Rossoneri, and after further heated discussion... headbutted him. Yep, headbutted:
Jordan was fine, but someone should probably book Gattuso into an anger management class, and quickly. He’ll be lucky to get away with only UEFA sanctions for that one, because his actions today could be reasonably construed as assault.
