Arsenal Vs. Barcelona 2011: Robin Van Persie Equalizes

Arsenal are rewarded for some very good second-half play thanks to a good finish from striker Robin van Persie, helped along by some frankly awful goalkeeping by Victor Valdez. Seconds after coming extremely close to missing a catch on a corner kick, Valdez was totally caught out by a surprising near-post finish from van Persie, who was almost on the goalline when he struck the ball. Nicklas Bendtner, who had come on for Theo Walcott just minutes beforehand, has allowed van Persie to play a touch higher up the pitch, meaning that the Dutch hitman was in plenty of space when found by a fine clipped pass from Gael Clichy.

With Bendtner lurking at the far post, Valdez had too much of an eye for the cross, and vacated his near side only for a slide-rule finish from van Persie to catch him out. Arsenal are now well and truly back in this tie at 1-1. Is more to come?
