The first real effort directed towards the Crawley Town goal has resulted in a goal for Manchester United, with captain for the day Wes Brown rising to glance a Darron Gibson cross into the net after Gibson had worked a short corner with Gabriel Obertan. Crawley had done a reasonable job dealing with United's previous not-threatening-at-all crosses, but they totally failed to pick up Brown as the ball arced in, allowing the centre back to add the slightest of touches to guide the ball past Michael Kuipers and into the net.
Manchester United Vs. Crawley Town: Wes Brown Opens Scoring For Hosts
Crawley have looked reasonably competent against what is essentially a Premier League reserve side, and United have had severe difficulty keeping the ball in midfield, with Gibson and Michael Carrick not retaining possession particularly effectively in the early stages. Still, the home side have looked far more dangerous, and their lead is well deserved. It doesn't look like there'll be any giants falling at Old Trafford today.
