Details are slowly emerging in regards to what caused the New England Revolution to send home Shalrie Joseph, although the cause for teammate Kevin Alston's dismissal is not as clear. Joseph, the team captain last season, was arrested for what appears to be his unwillingness to obey hotel staff orders to return to his room following a late night party at the team hotel. He was ultimately charged with trespassing, a misdemeanor in Florida, where the incident occurred. The incident is detailed in a Boston Globe report. Alston was not charged with any crime.
Shalrie Joseph Was Arrested For Trespassing At Hotel, Report Says
Joseph was taken to the Orlando Police’s central booking office at 3:31 a.m., and he and Alston were sent home later on Saturday for what team officials dubbed “disciplinary reasons.” There was no practice on Saturday and some teammates were apparently unaware of what caused Alston and Joseph to miss Sunday’s practice. Team officials have so far declined to comment about Alston’s and Joseph’s future with the team.
Last year, Joseph missed the first five games of the season while participating in the MLS substance abuse and behavioral health program. He still managed to play 22 games and scored four goals and had five assists.
