Newcastle Vs. Bolton: Kevin Nolan Heads Magpies Ahead In 13th Minute

Newcastle United has struck first at St. James' Park, with Kevin Nolan converting off a 13th minute corner kick. The goal comes moments after Bolton had tested Magpies' goalkeeper Steve Harper, an outstretched left hand the only thing keeping Bolton from an early lead. With Jussi Jaaskelainen unable to replicate his counterpart's heroics, the Toon have gone in front.

The goal came after a corner kick from the right went through the box, to the left side, where Chiek Tiote collected the ball. The midfielder turned and set the ball up for an inswinging right footer, a ball the swerved onto the head of Nolan. The Newcastle attacker redirected the ball down and just to the right of Jaaskelainen. putting the Magpies in front.

The home side is playing without Joey Barton, a late scratch after suffering an ankle injury in warm-ups. Ryan Taylor has gotten the start on the right.
