Newcastle's success has been through quick moves down the flanks - most often, their left - before playing the ball into the box, often being fouled before doing so. Those fouls have led to a number of gaps from the crowd as Bolton has appeared to have trouble matching-up with the Magpies on dead ball plays. Bolton's attacks have been build on their quick passing, typically moving through the left-central of midfield, eventually hitting the channel between Jose Enrique and Fabricio Coloccini. Bolton first good chance early in the match came through side, eventually forcing a tough save from Stephen Harper. Their goal was also built from that point, with Johan Elmander distributing from the right-center of Bolton's attack, finding Daniel Sturridge at the top of the penalty area.
