Newcastle Vs. Bolton: Ryan Taylor Sees Red Card For Two-Footed Challenge

Ryan Taylor has seen straight red at St. James' Park, a just punishment for a potentially horrible challenge on Johan Elmander. The Newcastle winger left his feet and went in with studs-up on the Elmander. The Bolton attacker was able to elevate just before Taylor made contact, and aside from some momentary limping was not effected. Taylor, however, will miss the rest of the half as well as the next three matches.

The confrontation came when Taylor was tracking back to his right flank, ready to challenge for a 50-50 ball. Elmander, coming in from wide, was set to beat Taylor and play the ball, causing a moment of desperation from Taylor. Taylor left both his feet go, showed the bottom of his boots as he jumped straight into Elmander’s ankles.

Thankfully, the Swede as able to react quick enough to avoid injury. Still, Newcastle will play the last half of this match, tied 1-1, with only 10 men.
