Wigan Athletic Vs. Manchester United: United Fail To Double Lead After Goalmouth Scramble

Wigan could easily have been completely out of this game following a bizarre goalmouth scramble featuring errors from just about everybody involved. Nani set it up with a stinging shot from the edge of the area, which Ali Al-Habsi fumbled right at Wayne Rooney's feet. The England international could easily have tapped the ball into the net, but his feet got tangled up and he was forced to lay the ball back to an onrushing Darren Fletcher, who scuffed his shot right into Gary Caldwell on the line as Al-Habsi flailed like a fish out of water in vague hopes of making a save.

Nani followed all of that up by sending a 30-yard free kick about 50 yards over the goal. Manchester United are very much in the ascendancy, and it would be no surprise to see them put the game to bed before very long. Wigan reply with... Franco di Santo. Well then.
