Route one football from Manchester United, but exceptionally pretty route one football. Wigan can have no complaints. Hernandez brought down a long punt with a brilliant flick to strike partner Wayne Rooney, who took a touch and then released the Mexican striker into a one on one with Ali Al-Habsi, which was never going to go well for the Wigan goalkeeper. Hernandez surged forwards and planted a neat finish to Al-Habsi's left, grabbing his second goal of the afternoon and almost certainly wrapping the game up.
Wigan Athletic Vs. Manchester United: Javier Hernandez Makes It Two
Sir Alex Ferguson reacts to his side's near-certain victory by withdrawing Hernandez and midfielder Paul Scholes for Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Gibson respectively. Scholes hasn't had a great evening, but Gibson's hardly an improvement - not that that matters now with Wigan looking at less than fifteen minutes to get two goals against a mean-looking Manchester United. It's an unfortunate scoreline for a Wigan side who've looked promising throughout the match, but they had their chances to score and simply failed to take them, and it looks as though that will be what sinks Roberto Martinez's side in the end.
