Andrei Arshavin, sensing space opening up ahead of him, cuts in from the left wing, glides through the gap in Birmingham City's temporarily timid defence, and rips a shot towards the corner of Ben Foster's net. At least, that's what was presumably going through the Arsenal man's mind - instead he kicked ground about as hard as he hit the ball, which rolled out rather harmlessly for a goal kick. Meanwhile the little Russian did a half horribly embarrassed half hey that really hurt actually hop back down the pitch.
Arsenal Vs. Birmingham City, Carling Cup Final: Andrei Arshavin Tries To Score, Falls Over
Samir Nasri and Jack Wilshere are both doing excellent work for the Gunners, and if a goal is indeed coming for the favourites it looks as though one of those two will be heavily involved. For Birmingham, it looks as though long balls towards the head of Nikola Zigic and taking advantage of set pieces will be the strategy. It's an interesting contrast of styles from the teams.
