The lineups for Serie A’s top of the table battle between AC Milan and Napoli are about as expected, with both teams throwing out minimal surprises. Ezequiel Lavezzi is suspended, meaning Giuseppe Mascara gets a start in the front three along with Edinson Cavani and Marek Hamsik. AC Milan have gone with tough tacklers in midfield, opting for three defensive minded central midfielders instead of including Kevin-Prince Boateng or Clarence Seedorf.
AC Milan Vs. Napoli: Lineups
Napoli Lineup (3-5-2): De Sanctis; Cannavaro, Aronica, Campagnaro; Dossena, Gargano, Pazienza, Maggio; Hamsik; Mascara, Cavani
AC Milan Lineup (4-3-3): Abbiati; Jankulovski, Thiago Silva, Nesta, Abate; Van Bommel, Flamini, Gattuso; Robinho, Pato, Ibrahimovic
If their dealings in Europe are any indication, AC Milan have some problems dealing with teams with width, so if Andrea Dossena and Christian Maggio can get forward and stay wide, they could cause problems for Milan. However, the presence of Pato and Robinho, along with the fact that Milan’s midfield will be playing very narrow, could cause them to be pushed back and pinched in. It will be interesting to see what aspects of play Napoli emphasizes and how much of an impact their wing backs have on the game.
