Necaxa and Monarcas Morelia just managed to play one of the most boring halves of football I’ve ever seen in my life. This is surprising to precisely no one who watched the 2010 Clausura or 2011 Apertura. After teasing us with a 3-3 thriller against San Luis last weekend, Morelia have decided to revert back to snorefest football.
Necaxa Vs. Monarcas Morelia: 0-0 Halftime, You Are Getting Veeeery Sleepy
As I was about to pass out in my office chair, the referee decided to show a second yellow card to Aldo Ramirez for accidentally stepping on Everaldo Barbosa’s foot. It was a very harsh sending off, and it came from such a tame foul that it could not awake me from my daze. Staying awake for another 45 minutes will be a struggle.
This is really sad for Necaxa, who built a lot of buzz going into the season. They did a lot to improve their team, seemingly, and looked like they had a good shot at avoiding relegation. Their stadium was rocking for their first two home games. Now, relegation is all but certain and there is almost no one in the stadium. Daniel Brailovsky has been fired, and his successor, Sergio Bueno, doesn’t have his team playing any better so far.
I’m going to go drink one of those new 32 ounce coffees from Starbucks.
