A Carlos Tevez first-half hat trick put the game to bed, and although both teams had chances in the second half neither of them seems particularly interested in the match from then on. Manchester City probably would have liked to have extended their goal differential - they have Boaz Myhill's flying hands to blame for not netting at least a few more, while at the other end of the pitch Joe Hart was a thorn in West Bromwich Albion's side all night with some fine saves to deny the Baggies. Edin Dzeko, who came on as a substitute late in the game, had a few chances to bag his first Premier League goal for City, but his shooting was fairly wayward and failed to trouble Myhill. On that evidence it's no wonder that Roberto Mancini is reluctant to mess with his formation to accommodate the Bosnian.
Manchester City Vs. West Bromwich Albion: City Win 3-0
Anyway, two penalties and a fine eight-yard effort from Tevez got Manchester City their three points. They're now five clear of Chelsea in third place (the Blues have two games in hand), and have closed the gap on second place Arsenal to one point after the Gunners contrived to blow a 4-0 lead against Newcastle today. West Brom are now level on points with Wigan Athletic and just two points clear of the relegation zone.
