Although we didn't get any goals, it was an eventful second half. Injuries galore, some fine saves, some great chances spurned, and now, and the end of it all, Manchester United's unbeaten lies shattered on the floor. It's not the most shocking result of the season. It's not even the most shocking result of the day. But very, very few would have bet on Wolverhampton beating the leaders today, even though they were at home.
Wolverhampton Wanderers Vs. Manchester United: Wolves End United’s Unbeaten Run
Nani opened the scoring less than three minutes into the match, but Wolves were never looking like pushovers and were back at level pegging within minutes as left-back George Elokobi powered in following a corner. Just before half time, Wolves grabbed the lead through Kevin Doyle, and they never looked back despite being under something of a siege situation before the end of the game.
We saw ice-cool Ryan Giggs lose his temper and kick Kevin Doyle. Rafael had a finger badly dislocated. Wayne Rooney had a sure equaliser blocked by Christophe Berra. Paul Scholes nearly scored with his hands, only for Wayne Hennessey to pull off a spectacular save. Make no mistake about it, though. Wolves were defending well, but United's goal was coming, as I'm sure anyone watching the game will attest to. Five minutes of injury time had everyone biting their nails. But inexplicably, the tide of white shirts stopped coming, Wolves had time to catch their breath and reorganise, and the 41st goal of the day stood as the last to be scored.
2-1 Wolverhampton at Molineux. This could have major implications at both end of the table.
