For the second time today, a Liverpool player appears to have picked-up a knock. Maxi Rodriguez, falling to ground along Liverpool's left flank, has either tweaked something in his midsection or incurred a left leg problem. Regardless, Liverpool trainers were on the pitch in the 42nd minute, and Fabio Aurelio was jogging along the sideline. Though the Argentine has been able to continue, his injury worry adds to the Martin Skrtel knock, potentially giving Kenny Dalglish some decisions to make at halftime.

But before that halftime came, some fireworks in Chelsea's end, as Branislav Ivanovic and Petr Cech broke into a short-lived argument, the two having collided while playing a Martin Kelly cross. The Liverpool back-cum-wing sent a ball in from the right flank to just inside the six yard box. Cech came out to play it was Ivanovic slid in for a block, and when both players hesitated slightly before (simultaneously) lunging for the rebound. each persistent in their miscommunication evolution by yelling at the other. Ultimately, Cech had swallowed up the ball. All was right in Chelsea's world.
Soon after, Andre Mariner blew for halftime. Liverpool had the half’s best chance, though Chelsea dictates more of the play. Both of the facets were rendered irrelevant by the halftime whistle, the sides going into intermission tied 0-0.
