In an attempt to fit all of his forwards in the same team in Chelsea FC’s match against Liverpool FC, Carlo Ancelotti has gone with an unorthodox lineup, featuring Nicolas Anelka playing at the top of a midfield diamond, behind Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba. He has not been particularly effective, and some people have been harsh (but probably fair) with their criticism. The Guardian’s excellent Bundesliga correspondent Raphael Honigstein has turned his attention to the Premier League this morning, and he doesn’t think too much of Anelka:
Chelsea FC Vs. Liverpool FC: Following The Reactions, Halftime, Nicolas Anelka’s Performance...And Unibrows
Carragher playing very well. Anelka terrible
Matt Dickinson from The Times isn’t too fond of Anelka’s performance either, and has suggested that Florent Malouda should be in Chelsea’s lineup:
Drogba, Torres bit static at moment and Anelka not impressing in hole. Malouda?
Everyone’s favorite tactical expert, Jonathan Wilson makes a comparison between Liverpool’s Lucas and the players in Sunderland’s midfield, suggesting that the play of Lucas has a lot to do with why Anelka is faring worse tonight than he did in mid-week:
Anelka finding it much tougher v Lucas than v Sunderland's open midfield. No space there for him at all today.
And finally, you may or may not have noticed that Chelsea right back Jose Bosingwa is rocking an absolutely ridiculous furry thing on his head. Blogger Rupert Fryer, who does an fantastic job covering football in South America, offers his analysis:
Bosingwa's unibrow in inexcusable.
Short, sweet, and to the point. Also, very correct. What the hell is Bosingwa thinking?!? He obviously has plenty of money to go to an expensive salon that has professionals who excel in male eyebrow waxing. SORT IT OUT.
