Gabriel Agbonlahor Out, Barry Bannan In For Mid-Week, International Action - 7500 To Holte
England's stars pulling out of the Three Lions' Denmark friendly has overlaps Aston Villa's news, with attacker Gabriel Agbonlahor being one of the withdrawals. Still, over at 7500 to Holte, SB Nation's Aston Villa community blog, there is as much excitement for one of the players who will play mid-week as there is for the attacker who won't.
Barry Bannan, the diminutive distributor who has had a difficult time seeing the pitch, has been called-in for Scotland's match with Northern Ireland. As 7500's Kirsten Schlewitz notes, the recall represents one of the few chances the midfielder will get to actually play:
Gabriel Agbonlahor is never going to get that fourth cap if he keeps doing silly things like pulling out of the England squad for "personal reasons." Barry Bannan, meanwhile, will not miss Scotland's Carling Nations Cup match against Northern Ireland for any reason. After all, when else is he going to get to play?
Beyond Agbonlahor, Aston Villa is well represented in the England squad, with Fabio Capello also calling in Darren Bent, Ashley Young, and Stewart Downing. Kirsten wants to include loanee Kyle Walker as a Villa representative, but Tottenham Hotspur supporters probably have a different view on who the defender truly represents.
But for now, Walker is on of 7500 to Holte’s favorites. For more information on that or anything Aston Villa, visit the SB Nation AVFC community blog.
