San Jose Earthquakes Vs. Real Salt Lake: Quakes So Far Have The Best Of It Through 20 Minutes
The first of those chances came when Ryan Johnson broke free inside the penalty area. Defender Chris Schuler whiffed on a clearance chance, but was able to poke at the ball just enough to keep Johnson from getting a clean look on goal and allowing goalkeeper Nick Rimando to make the save.
At about 20 minutes in, the Quakes had another stellar opportunity when Chris Wondolowski found himself all alone in front of the goal. But the reigning Golden Boot winner missed the header on a feed from Bobby Convey.
Also worth noting that the Quakes are really in much more of a 4-3-3 formation, with Brandon McDonald apparently being mislabeled as a midfielder and Bobby Convey and Ryan Johnson very much playing forwards.
